UPDATE:
Contributions to this consultation closed on the 17th August for evaluation and review.
The feedback from community will be presented to Council in September. The project team will report back and inform you of the Council date and details of the recommendations made to Council based on community feedback.
Bird Park may have an opportunity to undergo landscape changes and we want your input.
As part of an approved development at 19-21 McCabe Street, Councillors were in September 2020 presented with potential upgrade options to Bird Park classified as Public Open Space.
Feedback was given to the developer clarifying that Councillors would only be interested in ‘minimal’ changes to the park. This small, non-accessible portion of land borders the City of Fremantle. The proposed upgrade will be funded by the developer, however Council has agreed – in principle – to cover the cost of ongoing maintenance if consultation feedback demonstrates clear community benefit.
The below image was put forward by the developer to improve the landscaping and visual amenity of the area, with the inclusion of a compacted limestone walking loop which will be a new feature. This concept can also be downloaded here.
The Town would like to hear from local residents and the community to share how you feel about the option of the landscaping program for Bird Park.
