The Buckland Hill Reserve is public open space in the western side of Mosman Park, currently designated an on-lead dog area. The Reserve is 1.73 km long, and has a number of pedestrian paths.

In March this year, the Town received a petition with 35 signatures requesting that a small portion of the Reserve be changed to an off -lead dog exercise area. The petition was tabled at the April Ordinary Council Meeting, and at a subsequent Council briefing for discussion. Elected Members have requested that resident views be sought before a report is brought back to Council for consideration.

The Town is seeking feedback from adjacent residents on the proposal to change a portion of Buckland Hill Reserve from an on-lead dog area to an off-lead dog exercise area. The Council are keen to hear whether the community supports an additional off-lead dog exercise area and this will be explored accordingly.

The off-lead area under consideration is a small section of Buckland Hill Reserve highlighted in “lime green”, bounded by two paths, between the Rebell Place, Somerset Crescent and a bush area. The area highlighted in “moss green” is the current on-lead dog area.

The current on-lead dog area within the public open space shown with the purple circle below. The closest off-lead dog exercise areas are Rope Works Park and Stringfellow Park.
