Background

The Green Place Reserve Jetty is one of three public access jetties in Mosman Park. The jetty was constructed in 1987 and is an ageing asset. Over the years it has sustained considerable and costly damage due to the deterioration of piling. In 2019 five piles were found to have significantly deteriorated to the point where they needed to be replaced or reconstructed. The jetty was unsafe for use and was closed until repair works could be completed. The amount allocated for repair of the jetty in the 2019-20 Budget was found to be insufficient, and the jetty has remained closed.

Current status

In February 2020, Council agreed to undertake a six-week community engagement to help it decide the future options for the Green Place Reserve Jetty, with the findings to be provided to Council for consideration as part of the 2020/21 Budget process. A total of 218 people responded to the online survey. Forty five percent of respondents were regular users of the Jetty, and 97% of respondents were in favour of repairing the jetty. A copy of the survey report is in the Documents Library.

Next steps

Council has allocated funds in the 2020/21 budget for the Green Place Jetty restoration works. The Town will now invite quotes for the required works to enable to jetty to be re-opened for public use.
