Help Shape the Future of Housing in Mosman Park

Housing is a national conversation right now, and local governments are being asked to play their part.

Following the adoption of the 2026 Local Planning Strategy, the Town of Mosman Park is establishing the Mosman Park Housing Innovation Advisory Group (MPHIAG) – an independent expert panel designed to strengthen how the Town develops housing policy and facilitates housing supply at the local level.

Expressions of Interest are now open for a further round, providing an opportunity to broaden the pool of expertise being considered for the panel.

About the MPHIAG

The MPHIAG will bring together a group of subject matter experts who will work alongside the Town’s planning team for a defined two-year term.

The group will operate under a formal Terms of Reference and, like a Design Review Panel, will provide independent advice without statutory decision-making authority. All formal planning decisions will remain the responsibility of Council.

The panel will play a key role in assisting the Town by:

• Providing expert, practical advice on housing delivery, affordability, and diversity.
• Testing new housing typologies and innovative policy approaches against real-world, market-deliverable conditions.
• Responding to Provisions in a new to be developed Local Planning Scheme or applicant led Scheme amendments for Planning Areas identified for up-coding in the 2026 Local Planning Strategy.
• Informing the Town's strategic response to the proposed Improvement Scheme/Plan for the Mosman Park Station Precinct.

The Terms of Reference have been updated to allow for a minimum of six subject matter experts, with flexibility to appoint additional members. The Town is inviting further Expressions of Interest to broaden the range of expertise available to contribute to the MPHIAG.

Who We Are Looking For

The Town is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced professionals and subject matter experts with demonstrated, hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Urban planning
• Architecture and building design
• Property development and residential construction
• Social, affordable and diverse housing delivery
• Community Housing Providers and not for profit agencies dealing with housing solutions

The Town welcomes applications from professionals with a range of skills, experience and perspectives that can contribute to the work of the panel.

While applications are open to all suitably qualified industry professionals, there is a preference for subject matter experts who reside within the Town of Mosman Park, to ensure a deep understanding of local context and community aspirations.
