Council decides not to allocate additional funding
At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 24 September 2024, Council decided not to allocate additional funding for further studies related to the Precinct Structure Plan (PSP). These studies were intended to meet the State Government's pre-requisite requirements for incorporating a mandatory community benefits framework into the draft PSP.
As a result, the draft PSP will move forward without a compulsory community benefits component. However, the Town will use Local Planning Policy 32 - Community Benefits Contributions to work with developers in negotiating community benefits.
Once the State Government formalises its position on community benefit frameworks, the Council will review the PSP to assess the potential value of including mandatory community benefits, the required information, and associated costs.
