Help us make pop-up trading in Mosman Park's public spaces work for everyone
Do you want to see more coffee carts, pop-up food vendors, fitness classes, and alfresco dining in Mosman Park?
We want Mosman Park to be a place where good business ideas can get off the ground without unnecessary red tape.
The Town is proposing a new Trading in Public Places Policy designed to cut red tape and make setting up shop in our public spaces easier, fairer, and more consistent.
Before we move forward, we want to hear your thoughts as the draft policy also needs to detail how we can safeguard or minimise impact to residential and public amenity.
Why are we proposing this?
Currently, the rules for trading in public spaces are spread across a patchwork of older policies. We want to bring all forms of public trading under one clear set of guidelines.
If this new policy is given the green light, it will formally replace the Town's existing Mobile Food Trading Policy and Alfresco Dining in Public Thoroughfares Policy with something that works better for traders, residents, and visitors alike.
What’s in the Draft Policy?
While the goal is to support local business, the draft policy maintains important safeguards to protect pedestrian access and residential amenity:
Clear Pathways: Alfresco dining areas must maintain a minimum 1.5-metre clearance for foot traffic and a 0.6-metre setback from the kerb.
Respectful Hours: Operating hours for traders must strictly align with the surrounding area's zoning requirements.
Consultation has closed.
