UPDATE March 2021: In 2020 we engaged with our community through an online survey, sundowners, coffee conversations and a community workshop. The feedback from over 600 people has been used to draft a new 10 Year Strategic Community Plan for the Town.

We would like to invite interested residents to a short workshop where we will discuss and review the survey results and draft plan together. The conversations in the workshop will be used to shape the final draft that will be shared with the whole community in April. for a second stage of consultation.

We are really excited to

UPDATE January 2021: Submissions have now closed. Thank you for coming out in droves and for being our sounding board; sharing how you can help shape the future of Mosman Park.

We asked what's important to you over the next ten years and received an incredible response with over 500 submissions that truly represented the diversity of our Town.

Now, it's over to us to listen to what you had to say and - as importantly - how we can use this feedback to inspire and action positive change in Mossie Park, and make it an even brighter suburb for you to live, work and play.

Our dedicated community and engagement team is now taking a closer look at the submissions and aim to share it with you in February.

We are currently engaging on the new vision/mission and principles for the 2021 SCP to help us work towards the development of the new strategy. Our current vision sees the Town become a 'gold-star local government by 2030’; but it's important to us to build on this and create a new vision that wholly reflects our community's aspirations.

When you pictured an even brighter future for Mosman Park in 2030, a common thread was weaved among the 472 responses we received. The below themes cropped up often; and it gave us a really good idea of the kind of things that are most important to you.

These results have been used with the feedback from the community workshop to propose three options for further community engagement

In addition to the above, our workshop participants identified advocacy, character, active citizenship and transparency as priorities for a community vision.

Vision

Three options have been suggested based on the workshop and wider community feedback:

The Town of Mosman Park is:

  1. ‘A connected flourishing neighbourhood for all’
  2. ‘An active, friendly neighbourhood between river and sea’
  3. ‘A progressive leader that nurtures our unique neighbourhood’
  4. 'An inclusive and truly engaged community, who are proud to be, together, the Town of Mosman Park'

Mission

We will foster active citizenship and communicate with our community to ensure the Town is a safe and friendly neighbourhood. We will balance our heritage with future growth.

or

To provide a clean, green, safe and friendly Town environment and to foster a genuine sense of a community between river and sea. We will build on our history and sustain the best of Mosman Park for future generations.

Our principles

  • We will engage and communicate
  • We will be courageous in advocating for our community
  • We will be friendly and welcoming to everyone
  • We will educate and empower the community for shared success and growth

About the SCP project

The Town of Mosman Park is developing a Strategic Community Plan that captures the community’s aspirations and will shape the way our community lives, works and plays over the next 10 years.

People are at the heart of the community. Having a coffee with friends, being part of a local sporting group or volunteering your spare time, are the things that make Mosman Park not just a suburb, but a village. That is why we want to hear from you!

Ideas have already been emerging over the last few years about what people want to see in Mosman Park, we want to explore this and capture these formally for our future. Change is coming as a number of State, National and global issues drive the deliverables for local government. We want the community to be involved in how we have to adapt our services and business to strive for a future of growth.

In this survey we are asking you about what you love, what you would like to change and what ideas you have for the future. There are 8 key questions and for those passionate about revenue and services we are even asking for your opinion on what matters most here too!

We have put together a library of documents to assist you with understanding more about the Town, which you can download below:

Putting together a Strategic Community Plan that delivers the services our community values whilst balancing increasing cost pressures facing local Councils is no easy task but it is important work. The financial realities for the Town will impact on what can be provided for the community over the next 10 years. Less than half of the land in Mosman Park is rateable; being home to six schools and a number of churches and aged care facilities, alongside some amazing parkland and natural bush. We must choose carefully how we spend the rates we collect to provide services and retain amenities which our community values.

We want to work closely with you to ensure this plan reflects the true aspirations of our community. Please share your thoughts below!
