Amendment to Local Planning Policy No. 17 – Design Review Panel (Parts 1 and 2) & Design Review Panel 2026-2028

The Town of Mosman Park has prepared and adopted for the purposes of advertising an amendment to Local Planning Policy 17 – Design Review Panel (Parts 1 and 2) that more closely aligns the policy documents with the Local Government Design Review Manual.

The Town of Mosman Park is now inviting your comments on the amendments to Local Planning Policy No. 17.

A copy of the draft amended Local Planning Policy No. 17 – Design Review Panel can be accessed via the 'Documents' link on the right-hand side of the page. There is also a Guidelines document that provides additional background information and guidance to support the policy.

Consultation opens 20 June 2026 for a period of 21 days and closes 18 July 2026.

Design Review Panel 2026-2028 Nominations Open

If you would like to contribute to shaping the future built form in the Town of Mosman Park, and you are an expert in architecture, urban design, urban / transport planning, landscape architecture, heritage conservation, sustainable design, civil, structural and or services engineering, accessibility, public art, we would love to hear from you!

The Town of Mosman Park is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced professionals with the above expertise to join our Design Review Panel (DRP) for a two-year term.

What is the role?

The panel is responsible for reviewing development applications and providing independent expert design advice to the Town. The panel does not make any decisions on applications, nor does it liaise directly with applicants and other interest parties outside of the meetings.

The Town’s role is to consider the advice provided by the Design Review Panel, and act upon it, at its discretion.

How to apply

It is preferred that your expression of interest is submitted via the survey below.

Please address the following criteria in your cover letter:

Panel members should have experience in providing design review advice within a panel format, DRP or Other
Demonstrated expertise in design review, design critique or the provision of strategic advice on design quality issues
Knowledge or understanding of the State’s Planning Framework, relevant local government policies, development controls and design issues in the local area
Ability to analyse, evaluate and offer objective and constructive feedback on complex design quality issues in design review, for evaluation of complex develop
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
Good written and verbal communication to ensure that advice provided to proponents is clear and concise

All submissions are to be submitted no later than 4.30pm, 18 July 2026.

All applications will be reviewed by the Town after the submissions period closes and a report of recommendation will be presented to Council at the August 2026 Ordinary Council Meeting for determination. All applicants will be notified soon after Council's decision.
