Scheme Amendment 13 and LPP 46 - Parking Changes
The Town of Mosman Park is proposing changes to how car parking requirements are managed, with the aim of making the process simpler, more flexible, and easier to update over time.
Currently, parking provisions are embedded in the Town’s Local Planning Scheme, which means any changes require a formal scheme amendment, a process that can be lengthy and complex. Scheme Amendment 13 proposes to remove these provisions from the Scheme and instead manage them through a Local Planning Policy.
This change will:
- Remove all car parking provisions from the Scheme text
- Delete Schedule 1 – Car Parking Requirements from the Scheme
- Allow parking requirements to be updated more efficiently via policy amendments
- Enable greater flexibility and discretion when assessing non-residential development applications
By shifting parking provisions into a Local Planning Policy, the Town can respond more quickly to changing needs and better align with the State Government’s planning framework, which encourages local governments to standardise parking requirements through policy rather than scheme text.
This amendment supports a more streamlined planning process and ensures that parking standards remain relevant, practical, and responsive to the needs of our community.
Consultation closes 5pm, 9 December 2025.
