Public Health Plan
Mosman Park Draft Public Health Plan
At the Town of Mosman Park, we believe that health is about so much more than simply being free from illness, it’s about living a full, connected, and vibrant life. The Town of Mosman Park draft Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2026–2031 is a five-year roadmap to support the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of everyone in our community.
What is the purpose of a Public Health Plan?
The Public Health Act requires each local government to produce a public health plan that applies to its local district.
A Public Health and Wellbeing Plan is a strategic guide that sets out how the Town will protect, promote, and improve the health of our community. It looks beyond hospitals and doctors to consider the everyday factors that influence wellbeing—like housing, green spaces, safety, social connection, and access to services. The plan helps the Town prioritise actions, coordinate services, and work with partners to create a healthier, more resilient Mosman Park.
The Town of Mosman Park acknowledges its role in the promotion of community health and wellbeing as a part of core business in addition to maintaining its statutory public health role. This engagement is taking place to support the delivery of the plan ahead of its statutory timeframe, allowing a more in depth and phased engagement approach.
Built on local insights, community feedback, and health data, this plan reflects our town’s unique needs. It focuses on the social and environmental factors that shape health - housing, education, employment, green spaces, safety, and social inclusion - and prioritises prevention, early intervention, and health promotion.
Working together for a healthier future.
Health is influenced by more than the health system alone. That’s why this plan outlines collaborative actions across the Town, services, and our community. It aligns with the Public Health Act 2016 (WA), the State Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025–2030, and our local strategies - including the Town’s Strategic Community Plan 2021–2031, Corporate Business Plan, and Sustainability Strategy 2024–2034.
There is a new direction in health planning that calls for a more integrated approach to all of the above services, facilities, programs we currently have in place.
It asks Local Government to consider how we can have greater impact on:
- chronic disease prevention such as obesity and smoking
- improving lifestyle factors such as physical activity, our nutrition and mental health issues
- reducing lifestyle factors such as alcohol and drug use and communicable diseases
