Will this section of Solomon street (between Lochee and Victoria streets) be 'permanently' closed?

Yes, however this does not mean it will not be able to be accessed. The road will be officially closed (as a road) meaning that it will no longer be recognised as a gazetted road.

The existing infrastructure will still remain and will be able to be used by the community for access and parking.

I currently use the car parking on this section of Solomon street, how will this impact me? Will I still be able to park here?

The portion of road next to Memorial Hall will continue to operate as it currently does, which is as a place for people to park vehicles. So yes, you will still be able to park here.

The Town is working to enter into an agreement with the Department of Education to allow for public parking in these spaces outside of school hours. Watch this space for more details on this!

Why close the road, what are the benefits of closing this section of Solomon street?

The southern portion of the road that is next to the Mosman Park Primary School is now subject to an agreement with the Department of Education to transform the land into appropriate and improved car parking for the Primary School and School for Deaf Children.

The northern portion of the road that is next to Memorial Hall currently operates as a car park, but is designated as a formal road. Whenever the Town holds an event in the area it must first lodge a formal road closure request with the WA Police. Closing the road will allow the Town to streamline its events process.

Are there any car park designs available for me to view?

No, there are no current designs for the proposed car park improvements available at this time.

The Town does not currently intend to modify the layout of the land next to Memorial Hall.

At this stage, the Town is seeking responses relating only to the proposal to close the road,  not for any specific designs for future car parks.

What happens after consultation is completed?

The Town will review and respond to comments received and summarise the comments in a report that will be presented to Council.

Council will then decide whether to proceed with the road closure request. If you have made a comment on the proposal you will be invited to attend the Council Meeting and notified of the decision of Council.
