Public Consultation Information
Waste Local Law 2023
Public Consultation has now ended. All submissions are now being considered for reporting purposes.
At The Town of Mosman Park we are proposing a new Waste Local Law to help us deliver sustainable waste and recycling services and maintain consistent, cost effective and functional waste management practices.
We are currently using the refuse provisions in the Town’s Health Local Law which was implemented in 1995 and only deals with general waste removal. Recycling and organic waste removal is not included and there is no provision for bulk verge removal. The Health Local Law will be repealed in its entirety when the Public Health Act 2016 comes into full effect.
The draft Waste Local Law is divided into 4 Parts:
Definitions
Local government waste – this Part deals with waste receptacles, placement on streets for collection, the use of receptacles and what may be placed in them, verge collections, and other provisions to ensure that waste is able to be removed efficiently.
General duties; and
Enforcement provisions – including a Schedule of modified penalties that may be imposed as listed in Schedule 2. These provisions are a significant improvement on the provisions allowable under the existing Health Local Law.
Submissions about the proposed law close at 4pm on the 16th of January 2023.
