Public Open Space Strategy
Consultation has concluded
UPDATE: the Public Open Space Strategy was adopted by Council at its meeting 26 March 2024. You can view a copy of the Council meeting minutes on the Town's website via this link: Agendas & Minutes – Town of Mosman Park. We would like to thank everyone who provided feedback and contributions.
We're developing a strategy to guide improvement in our Public Open Spaces. From parks to beaches and everything between, we're looking to make our Public Open Spaces more fit for community needs.
What is a Public Open Space Strategy?
A Public Open Space (POS) Strategy is a high-level and overarching research document that audits all areas of public open space within a local government area. A POS strategy is a comprehensive Strategy that identifies strengths and weaknesses of the open space in your community, and formulates objectives and actions for the local government to work towards improving the appeal, amenity and value of these Public Open Spaces.
The ongoing management actions for public open space will also provide support for requests to obtain and spend public open space contributions made by developers.
We need your help.
The Town of Mosman Park Draft Strategy proposes a number of actions for the Town to work towards over the next 10 years. The actions you'll find in the draft POS strategy are at proposed only, and we now need your help to further refine these actions, ensuring they are relevant and meanigfull for the Town of Mosman Park.
We would love to get your feedback on the actions proposed and are asking you to please let us know what your priorities are.
You can respond to them by undertaking the survey linked below (5 - 10 minute completion time).
There is a lot of information here, where do I start?
Much of the survey refers to content in the draft strategy so be sure to please have a look at the key documents section of this page (on the right) to get yourself acquainted with the proposed actions and what they mean before you complete the survey.
To ensure an important document like the POS strategy can be read and understood easily, we have divided the document into clear sections:
The main document offers a comprehensive overview of the appendices, with Appendix B and C containing key details on the Town's proposed actions. These three documents are the ideal starting point for reviewing and investigating future Town projects.
If you are interested in digging a little deeper, Appendix A contains demographic analysis, background review, and classifications of the different types of public open space and therefore may not be the most critical document to review; and Appendix D contains the consolidated assessments for each piece of public open space undertaken by Town Officers.
How can I get more information on what is proposed?
