What is a Streetscape Masterplan?
A Streetscape Masterplan is a strategic document that guides the design and improvement of a street, balancing transport, landscaping, public amenities, and urban character to create a more functional and attractive space.
Why does Glyde Street need a masterplan?
Through the Town Centre and Precinct Structure Plan engagement exercises in 2017, 2019 and 2023, Glyde Street was identified as a key entrance into Mosman Park.
The masterplan aims to enhance Glyde Street's functionality, safety, and aesthetics while supporting local businesses and the community.
Who is responsible for the Masterplan?
The Town of Mosman Park is leading the project with PLACE lab consultancy, in consultation with local businesses, residents, and stakeholders.
What are the key objectives of the masterplan?

Will there be changes to footpaths, roads and crossings?
Yes, the plan proposes wider footpaths in areas to create garden spaces and places to rest, safer pedestrian crossings, and potential road modifications to improve safety and accessibility.
How will the streetscape improvements support businesses?
Enhancements like better lighting, more seating, improved pedestrian flow, and greenery will create a more inviting environment, attracting more visitors and could have the flow on effect of boosting economic activity through creating a destination and sense of place.
What role does greenery and sustainability play in the plan?
The masterplan proposes more trees, garden beds, and sustainable drainage solutions to enhance the street’s appeal and mitigate heat impacts.
How can I provide input on the masterplan?
Community consultation is being undertaken for a period of 3 weeks (21 days) where all the information relevant to the project is available on the Town's website - Your Say page.
The Your Say page has an online survey which you are encouraged to participate in assist the Town in understand whether the draft masterplan meets your expections and future aspirations for the area. You can also register on the Town's Your Say page so that you receive any updates on the project.
Alternatively, you can email a submission into the Town on admin@mosmanpark.wa.gov.au or mail a hard copy to the Town at 1 Memorial Drive, Mosman Park.
Will the masterplan consider feedback from local businesses and residents?
Yes, feedback will be a key part of shaping the final design to ensure it reflects community needs and aspirations. if you have any ideas or feedback, please share this with the Town.
How will the implementation of the masterplan be funded?
Funding may come from local government budgets, state or federal government grants, through community benefit contributions as part of a development application or cash in lieu from non-residential car parking shortfalls being potentially used to implement parts of the masterplan deliverables.
What are the priority items for the Streetscape Masterplan?
The masterplan aims to establish the overall vision for how Glyde Street will look, feel and function at its optimum with improved pedestrian, bicycle and non-vehicle prioritisation. It is unlikely that the entire plan could be implemented in one stage, so the Town is forming its priorities and is seeking your feedback. What are the most important improvements or what are the quick wins that you feel that the Town should focus on to improve Glyde Street?
